Chet and Charlie are a team of Belgian draft horses owned by Si Ryan of Spring Creek Ranch. They are 10 and 11 years old respectively. Looking at them from the front, Chet is the one on the right, and Charlie is the one on the left. Chet is a little, um, stockier: even though he is only 17 hands, he weighs about 1900 pounds. Charlie weighs about 1800 pounds and is 17.2 hands tall.
John and Si have been working together with Chet and Charlie over the last few years. All four enjoy draft horse competitions, parades, and playing around with the bobsled, forecart, and mower.

John and the boys took 2nd place in this year's Working Horse and Driver competition in Bozeman. Due to an unusually cold, snowy, and windy winter, they've not had much of a chance to practice, so he felt really good about the outcome.
Here's a picture from inside the arena where they are just waiting their turn to compete.
